Dressed to the Nines: More First-Aid Stations Coming Our Way

Good news for the accident-prone: The Beijing Red Cross has announced that it will be adding 20 more “999” first-aid stations to Beijing by the end of the year. This will bring the total number of these stations to 150, and efforts will be concentrated in densely populated areas or spots with heavy traffic.

While these new stations are a welcome addition to our beloved city, the original post reminds us that they are not treatment sites per se, but platforms for medical personnel and equipment. So don't let up your guard just yet.

"The first aid stations simply mean that response time in responding to official emergency services calls should be reduced, as more responders will be available closer to potential situations. Families and individuals should still be ready to deal with incidents at the three places they spend the most time: home; work/school; and the car, for vehicle owners," said SinoRescue founder Steven Schwankert, who also happens to be the Beijinger's managing editor.
