A Flock of Feasts: 15 Ways to Gobble Up Turkey This Thanksgiving

Who wants to make a Thanksgiving dinner at home when some of Beijing's most-loved restaurants have perfectly delectable dinners? (But, alas, you have to have a homecooked meal? Don't worry, some of these guys do delivery too.) We've gathered below all the meals we could find in our fair city, and we'll continue to update you with more. Come back later this week for a list of hotel buffets and more Thanksgiving activities – we'll be keeping you updated daily.

Nov 28 (Thanksgiving Day)

Burger Bar
Ongoing. Don't wait for Turkey Day – Burger Bar is offering their T-Day set menu for the whole month of November. Highlights are the Pilgrim Turkey Burger with Swiss cheese, mushrooms, and sweet potato fries, and a pumpkin pie milkshake. RMB 159. 11.30am-10.30pm

The Irish Volunteer
The Irish Volunteer is celebrating Thanksgving like mom used to do it with pumpkin soup, turkey and gravey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and a slice of pecan and apple pie. Choose a glass of wine or two Tsingtaos to wash down the meal. RMB 150, RMB 50 (kids 12 and under). 5.30pm, 7pm (two seatings). RSVP required by Monday, Nov. 25

The Filling Station
Bring the family and hit the holiday season full-stride with an all-you-can-eat traditional Thanksgiving dinner and seasonal holiday drinks like mulled wine and sparkling apple cider. Keep the kids entertained with free craft activities (until 7pm). RMB 160, + RMB 60 for all-you-can-drink wine and cider, RMB 80 (kids under 10). 4pm

Lily’s American Diner
Dine out or have a bit of help dining in. For no hassles and no cleaning, treat yourself to a set turkey dinner at the restaurant. If you’re looking to kick it in sweats with the fam, opt for takeout. RMB 119/person (set dinner), RMB 95/kg (turkey for take-out), + RMB 20 for sides. 6pm-midnight

The Local
Stay local, stay casual. Choose from multiple options of meat (300g) to accompany a buffet of traditional sides. RMB 80 discount for bookings and payment three day in advance. Turkey delivery available, too. RMB 360 (white meat only), RMB 200 (white and dark meat), RMB 120 (dark meat only). 6pm, 8pm (two seatings)

American Steak and Eggs
All the fixings right where you'd expect them. American Steak and Eggs diner will serve roast turkey, stuffing, sweet potato mash, cranberry sauce and more. Alternatively, get turkey delivered to your door for RMB 79 per kilo along with sides and pies. RMB 130, RMB 79 (kids). 6pm-midnight

Okra
Whoa guys, watch out – Okra will stop serving sushi for one night only, so it's bound to be for something good. Five courses will be presented for Thanksgiving supper including Traitor Zhou's Famous Fried Chicken (katsu-style), sweet potato casserole, pain perdu with black mollasses ice cream, and more. Reservations include six hand-picked duvel specialty beers. RMB 1,350 per table (4-6 people).  6-7pm and 8-9pm. RSVP required

Nola
Nola's may be a New Orleans style restaurant, but they won't be without the traditional fixings, plus a few surprises this Thanksgiving. A set menu offers a choice between ham or turkey, and includes sides of potato puree and honey carrots, as well as a range of pies (pumpkin, pecan, blackberry or apple). If you're staying in, you can get your turkey delivered to your doorstep for RMB 140-160 a kilo (sides available). RMB 238. 6-10pm

Grandma's Kitchen
What's the next best thing to celebrating Thanksgiving at grandma's? Celebrating at Grandma's Kitchen of course. Dine on their set menu of either turkey, salmon, shrimp or steak main, waldorf salad, and pumpkin or corn soup. Contact the restaurant for a whole or half turkey delivery. RMB 238. 6-10pm

Capital M
Capital M is serving a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with a few twists, including pumpkin pie with a dollop of Bourbon cream, maple glazed carrots, cranberry martinis, and hot spiced apple juice. RMB 595. Dinner only. RSVP required

Chef Too
Enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving set dinner, with both turkey and ham, soup or salad, potatoes, and vegetables. If you don't feel like dining out, ask for a prepared set menu to be sent to your door, alongside a range of turkeys. RMB 248, 98 (kids). 5-10pm

4corners
A gut-busting array of turkey, gravy, and all the fixin's. A decadent traditional North American feast served next to live instrumental jazz and blues on the main stage and a roaring fireplace in the back lodge. RMB 128. 7.30-11pm

Tim's Texas Bar-B-Que
Feast on an American Thanksgiving Day dinner of roast turkey, honey baked ham, corn souffle, green bean casserole, and more. RMB 198, RMB 178 (before 4pm). RMB 68 for children 12 and under. 9am-midnight

The Bookworm
The Bookworm is doing Thanksgiving the traditional way, with roast turkey tossed with traditional bread and celery stuffing, gravy sauce, mashed potatoes, waldorf salad, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. The three course set menu includes a glass of red or white wine. RMB 198, RMB 120 (kids). 7.30pm-midnight. RSVP required

The Schoolhouse at Mutianyu (Great Wall)
Also Nov 30. Share a family-style feast of turkey and smoked oysters with live jazz at Mutianyu. Celebrate on the day itself or enjoy a reprise on Saturday. Round-trip bus transportation for RMB 80. RMB 380, RMB 160 (university students w/ ID, kids 4-12), free (kids under 4). 5-8pm

Friday, November 29

NBeer
Enjoy a beer-infused Thanksgiving meal with NBeer Pub's four course set menu and all you can drink draft beer. RMB 178, RMB 138 (advance + RMB 148 for all you can drink draft beer). 7-11pm

Rosewood Bar and Grill
Rosewood Bar and Grill is providing a four course meal which includes duck, ham, fresh vegetables and rich turkey gravy. RMB268. Noon-3am

Saturday, November 30

Great Leap Brewpub
Get ready for deep-fried turkeys, mulled wine, hot chocolate and craft beer. Great Leap is throwing a belated Thanksgiving potluck where they provide the turkeys, mulled wine and hot chocolate, and you provide the fixings. Free. Noon-6pm

Peter's Tex Mex is having a nice dinner as well. I was just in there over the weekend and saw the details, but can't remember them. You can also order a cooked turkey with several choices of sides.
