Elvis Lives – He's Serving Taiwanese Food at the Kerry Hotel Beijing

Food from Taiwan is pretty tasty. Now you can taste it yourself in Beijing, and it's all prepared by a guy named Elvis.

As part of Kerry Hotel Beijing's "A Taste of Taiwan" promotion, Shangri-La Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Taipei's Executive Sous Chef Elvis Chen and Shangri-La Far Eastern Plaza Hotel Tainan's Junior Sous Chef Max Wang are visiting Kerry Hotel Beijing for a limited time to whip up some of their Taiwan favorites for a very limited time.

Those favorites include abalone with mullet roe (not roe with a mullet), steamed Mandarin fish, san bei ji (three-cup chicken, so called because it is seasoned with one cup each of soy sauce, rice wine, and vinegar. Those are just three of the six, set-menu courses and buffet items, which offer even greater variety. It ends with famous Taiwan pineapple cake served with honey vanilla ice cream. Chef Elvis assured us that all the sauces and many of the ingredients, including Taiwan honey, traveled with him to Beijing in his luggage.

You can potentially win a trip for two to Taiwan, including airfare and accommodation at the Shangri-La Far Eastern Plaza Hotel when choosing the set menu at Horizon Chinese Restaurant June 4-7, or the lunch and dinner buffet at Kerry's Kitchen June 4-14. Both the Horizon set menu and Kerry's Kitchen buffet are RMB 258+ per person. For more information on reservations and other prizes, click here.
