Mao Mao Chong Introduces New Menu With Jing A Beer Cocktails

It's no secret that beer cocktails have hardly made their case in Beijing as of yet, so when we found out Mao Mao Chong is going to start offering local craft beer cocktails on their summer menu, we were psyched.

Owner Stephanie Rocard's new drinks list features a rotating selection of concoctions using Jing A's Flying Fist IPA, and she's even managed to sneak in Jing A beer syrup into a few others, much like Trouble Bar does with Jing A's Oatmeal Vanilla Velvet Stout. We think we won't be able to resist these next time we're on Banchang Hutong.

Stephanie put her cocktail carbonator to work and created a beer Negroni of sorts, with 1.5 parts beer, one part sweet vermouth, .5 parts Aperol and a bout of CO2 that makes a glass of the stuff look suspiciously like ... well, a beer.

Other cocktails that will most likely make it on the board include one that has Stephanie's signature summer spiciness, thanks to ginger pineapple chutney and chili bitters. The chutney is supplied by Mumbai native Chef Reshma Khan of The Hutong (who also happens to make a killer mango lassi). Look for her raisin and carrot chutney in the Kombi Van, a thyme infused Japanese sake with tomato juice and IPA beer syrup.

Jing A plans to provide MMC with a rotating selection of beers on tap, including their Mandarin Summer Wheat, Toasted Chestnut and the Watermelon beer (which you'll also find at Migas at their Funky Sun Block Party on July 5). This, of course, means Stephanie will have to come up with new twists on the beer cocktails, and there are already whispers of a Beer Mary. Yum!
