A Chat with Liars, Modern Sky Arrives and Punk Invasion

Kipp's still sunning himself, so this will be the second of three Talking Tunes I'm looking after. So what did we learn in music this week?

We learned how we have a bumper weekend of music on the horizon for a kick-off.

They left it so very, very late to finalize the line up, but eventually Modern Sky got around to letting us know for sure who will take the stage at the 2014 edition of their annual festival which kicks off tomorrow (Aug 29) at Changyang Binhe Park. The full line-up can be found here, as well as a way of getting hold of tickets. But here's the poster:

We interviewed one of the headline acts, Liars, originally for our September issue (which just hit the streets). You can get a look at that interview here (listen to the Radiohead remix of their track "Proud Evolution" at that link).

If you like your festival's with a touch more menace, how about the 11th Beijing Punk Festival, which starts on Saturday (Sep 30) at the pretty unpunk-like 798 art district's Theater Livehouse. It concludes on Sunday (Aug 31). A host of big local names will be performing over the two days.

And the Beijing Sonic week-long festival has now been finalized. It gets going on Friday (Sep 5) and features events and workshops everyday for a week at Post Mountain in Dangdai MOMA. Click here for more information about the event and the line-up.
