Best in Asia: Beijing's TRB Named #1 Restaurant in Trip Advisor Reader Poll
Temple Restaurant Beijing, that bastion of fine European dining set in the confines of a renovated temple hidden in Beijing's hutongs, has topped the list of well-known travel review site Trip Advisor's 2014 list of best restaurants in Asia.
That's also good enough for TRB to make it to #21 worldwide, according to the list released this week and developed from user reviews posted to the global travel site over the past 12 months.
The list of Trip Advisor's 2014 Traveler's Choice Awards features no other restaurants on the mainland in the top 25 (suck it, Shanghai). Din Tai Fung (which has branches in Beijing) was named #23 in Asia for it's Taipei 101 branch. One Hong Kong establishment made Asia's Top 25: Caprice in Central.
TRB has been a favorite in our readers' hearts since its opening and has the hardware to prove it, walking away with nine trophies in our 2014 Reader Restaurant Awards (including Best Restaurant of the Year, Best Service, and Best for Impressing Visitors).
It's nice to see Beijing's restaurant scene get a little respect, especially since the city's F&B establishments were completely shut out of the Top 50 Restaurants in Asia list released earlier this year by Restaurant Magazine.
Beijing shows up in another key spot in Trip Advisor's 2014 awards: #4 on the list of Top 25 World Destinations (coming in after Istanbul, Rome and London). Nice to think that despite all the pollution and traffic, our little ol' capital city still holds some draw out there.
