BEME III: Dark Bridges to New Music

Maybe there’s something in the PM2.5 that’s facilitating this recent ravenous desire for synthetic sounds and discordian beats in the capital. There’s no doubt something acting as a catalyst for opening minds to these various styles of experimentally refined musics that are infiltrating our weekly schedule of leisure activities.

Though these sonic adventures don’t quite align with the recent government push towards promoting art with a definitive political leaning or that works in accordance with an age old cultural vernacular, these forms do express something that is uniquely Chinese. Whether it is the sound of the operator or that of the machine, this plight of the capital’s musical cyberpunks is continually shaping itself into its own electronic system that’s very much specific to this place and time. This is the experience that the SinotronicsBEME III will be providing, and in true festival formation.

It kicks off this Friday at 8pm, where they’ll be presenting a lineup of left field electronic music with a dance edge. Get over to the grimy dance floor of Dada and check out local and international acts like MMS, iimune, FAR/∞, JFI, FM3, Menghan, and Hasback Hashish (Delhi).

Saturday night of BEME III will take place at Yugong Yishan, and focus on the hybridity of groups that mix in the textures of electricity with their future rock aesthetics, along with the official release of FM3's new album Ting Shuo. The line up includes FM3Subs, Duck Fight Goose, Spy Rat 51, FAR/∞, and Menghan.

On Sunday the BEME III concludes at XP, with an evening dedicated to pushing things even further, in a no rules showcase of everything next level, featuring more from Hashback Hashish, along with iimmune, JFI, Menghan/STEEL, Hong Qile, Ben Houge, and Wang Changcun. More information here.
