Olympic Ski Chief: "The Only Question We Still Have Is the Snow"

The president of the International Ski Federation feels pretty good about Beijing's ability to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, even if there's, like, no snow.

"We are quite confident" about a Beijing games, said Glan Franco Kasper, expressing just one minor reservation: "The only question we still have is the snow."

These ski folks seem to have fairly minimal standards. They expressed they were pleased that Beijing's proposed ski venues, in the Hebei province city of Zhangjiakou, recently received five centimeters of natural snowfall.

In 2014, Beijing received little more than a dusting of snow, with 2015 not much different so far. Beijing would host ice events, with Zhangjiakou handling downhill skiing and other events requiring actual snow, either manmade or natural.
