Jaycee Chan Publicly Apologizes Following Prison Release

Jaycee Chan, son of Jackie Chan, kung fu movie star and potentially the most famous Chinese person in the entire world, apologized on Saturday following his release from prison. He sat out a six-month sentence in Beijing on drugs charges.

Last December, Jaycee Chan was charged with ‘the crime of sheltering others to take drugs’. He also tested positive for marijuana, and 100g of the drug was found at his home in Beijing's Dongzhimen.

The apology was broadcast live on CCTV, and came amid an increasing crackdown on drugs. According to the Daily Mail, there was a 53 percent increase in drug investigations in the first half of last year.

After apologizing, Jaycee Chan said that he was planning to focus his attention on his family and working on his career in the entertainment industry.
