2014 the Beijinger Pizza Cup winners Gung Ho! Gourmet Pizza Factory are partnering with outdoor clothing manufacturer Patagonia and environmental business network One Percent for the Planet to stage the First Annual Beijing Earth Day Festival on Wednesday, April 22, from 4-10pm at Sanlitun SOHO.

"The festival will include a charity auction and lucky draw, an environmental presentation and Q&A, live performances, children’s entertainment, live music, and movie screenings as well as gourmet pizza, craft beer and more," Gung Ho! said via its website.

Along with winning the 2014 Pizza Cup, Gung Ho! won four outstanding citations at the 2015 the Beijinger Reader Restaurant Awards, and saw their marketing guru Rich Akers named to as an inaugural inductee in the Beijinger Dining Hall of Fame.

Earth Day was first conceived in the US in 1970 and is now marked with events in more than 192 countries annually as part of The Earth Day Network, and while the day has been marked by some in the past in Beijing, there has been a distinct absence of large-scale events.

The Beijinger is pleased to be the official media partner of the First Annual Beijing Earth Day Festival.
