Join Climate Fresk: A Unique Earth Day Experience!

This Earth Day, Climate Fresk is inviting you to be part of something special! Founded in France in 2018 and now active across the globe, Climate Fresk is an NGO that aims to bring people and organizations on board with the climate transition through climate education.

Every year, on Apr 22, Earth Day brings attention to global environmental issues; it's a call to action to embrace green, low-carbon lifestyles and protect the planet's future. In honor of Earth Day this year, Climate Fresk are organizing a series of activities across seven cities in China including one in Beijing that will be taking place on Apr 20

Called the Climate Fresk Workshop it’s an exciting and informative collaborative game that's taken the world by storm, embraced by over 1.5 million people worldwide! It gives attendees the chance to tackle the "hot" topic of climate change in a unique and engaging manner.

From plastic-filled oceans to extreme weather events like wildfires, floods, and hurricanes, the impacts of climate change are affecting millions worldwide. But why are these occurrences becoming more frequent, and how do they relate to you? Well, the Climate Fresk Workshop will explore these questions and more!

So just what does the workshop involve?

Led by a community of Freskers (facilitators), the Climate Fresk workshop is an interactive journey based on the latest scientific reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Through a game with 42 cards, participants gain awareness and understanding of climate change in a playful and collaborative setting.

Teams of four to seven people, guided by a Fresker, will explore the cards representing various aspects of climate change and work together to connect the dots between causes and effects. It's a collective intelligence approach that encourages teamwork and critical thinking. The Fresker then facilitates a debriefing session by exploring individual and collective solutions and broadening reflection beyond climate issues.

The workshop follows three key phases to do this:

  1. Understanding: discover, question, understand and connect the cards to co-construct.
  2. Creativity and Summary: make connections between the cards, take ownership of the Fresk and illustrate it in a context of team spirit.
  3. Emotions and Discussion: exchange mindfully on how participants feel, their point of view, and come up with individual and collective solutions to broaden reflection beyond climate issues.

The workshop is available in three languages   English, Chinese and French   and is suitable for both adults and children aged nine and upwards. Everyone and anyone is welcome to join, whether you have a limited understanding of climate change or already have some knowledge of climate issues but wish to learn more the workshop is for you!
