Hidden City Game is Back this Saturday, May 9

Have you heard a lot about Beijing's hutongs, but never had the chance to explore them properly? Do you have a competitive nature? The next session of the Hidden City Game may be for you.

The Hidden City Game is a timed game organized by Improbable Guidebooks, and is similar to a treasure hunt (or a tiny Amazing Race). The challenge runs throughout specific sections of Beijing in order to explore, compete, and have fun. Participants in teams of 2, 3, or 4, run around looking for answers hidden in architecture, history, or logic. The game is family friendly, too!

Saturday's (May 9) session is based near Yonghegong Lama Temple, Confucius Temple, Wudaoying Hutong, and Fangjia Hutong, as well as the smaller surrounding alleys.

And as for the logistics: the game starts at 1pm, and runs until about 5.30pm. The starting point, and meeting point, is the new and impressive Dadu Museum of Art, an art gallery complex recently opened on Guozijian. Part of the game involves exploring the museum and there is a chance to create your own art.

Entering costs RMB 40 per person, but is free if you paint all 10 fingernails in 10 different colors. Prizes add up to RMB 3,000-4,000, including restaurant and drink vouchers. If you want to register, all you have to do is scan the QR code on the event listing here or add Paula on WeChat (ID: paulitt).
