Relaunched Brunch at Westin Financial Street Offers Retro Fun

Westin Beijing Financial Street have relaunched their popular Sunday brunch with a "retrolicious" theme. The huge brunch spills out across Senses and Prego Italian restaurants on the ground floor of the hotel, offering everything from seafood to Indian cuisine, Chinese dumplings to made-to-order crepes.

As part of the retro theme, staff are decked out in comedy afro wigs and a musical duo sings songs from the 50s. Expect sporadic performances from the staff (we nearly tripped over a duo doing a plate spinning demonstration) and frequent visits from roving food carts bearing everything from pizzas to ice cream cake.

Let's be honest, not everything at these all-you-can-eat affairs is going to be a hit, and there were certainly a few misses on our visit: the Indian dishes lacked the necessary punch of spice and the sushi was a little disappointing.

Skip those and head for these highlights instead:

  • Risotto and fresh pasta made by the chefs from Prego
  • Cantonese-style roast meats such as belly pork and soy sauce chicken
  • Tasty crab claws with a variety of sauces and dressings
  • Fresh cocktails including Sangria and Mojitos served in cute mason jars

Brunch costs RMB 448 per person with free-flow juice and soft drinks, or RMB 488 per person including free-flow Veuve Cliquot, cocktails, wines, beers, juices and soft drinks (both plus 15 percent service charge). Available every Sunday, 11.30am-3pm.
