Break a Leg? Beijing Subway Commuter Sues Over Injury

A Beijing Subway commute isn't always comfortable, but one straphanger claims he was hurt badly during one particular ride.

The man, identified only by his surname Shao, claims that while being crammed onto a subway car on October 31, 2014, he suddenly felt a sharp pain, which was later diagnosed as a leg fracture and ligament damage, the Global Times reported.

Shao's story is at least backed up by surveillance footage of other passengers helping to remove him from the train.

The man is seeking over RMB 54,000 in damages for medical costs and lost wages. Before your next ride on the Beijing Subway, please consider wearing proper protection.

Not much of a story, where are the pictures and how did it happen? Was he in between stops or was it more like a sudden stop where he lost his balance? Maybe neither, was it someone crushing their weight on him? What protection are you referring to? That's a rather odd thing to say. What protection did he need that others didn't?

It seems isolated to him, so I wonder what he was doing when it happened? Did he hold onto the bars or triangle things, or was he busy with his cell phone?

Not enough to warrant or justify the claims made yet.
