Experience the Joyful Noises of Múm this Saturday at Yugong Yishan

Múm, the Icelandic group, known for their atmospheric blend of glitched beats and dark twee mannerisms are bringing their coveted sound to Yugong Yishan this Saturday (Dec 19).

The band was formed in 1997 by original members Gunnar Örn Tynes and Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason, who were joined by twin sisters Gyða and Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir. They achieved some acclaim back in 2002 for their album Finally We Are No One released on Fat Cat Records, and have continuously pushed the boundaries of the indie electronica and dream pop genres into icy territories despite some of the original members leaving the group and a rotating crew of multi-instrumentalists joining the ranks. If you’ve never heard them before you can imagine it sounding a bit like if Aphex Twin and Thomas Ravenscroft, the brains behind the classic folk song “Three Blind Mice”, joined forces to create some very disturbing children’s music.

Throughout the years, they have struggled a bit to match the attention and acclaim they received on their first three releases but have since risen from the ashes a bit with the 2013 release of "Whistle", a collaboration with the delectable Kylie Minogue. Kind of an odd combination if you ask us, but it’s still a lovely track any fan of múm or Kylie should rush to check out.

Tickets are going for RMB 220 (advance) and 260 at the door, or you can purchase them online through Taobao.
