Gung Ho! Pizza Cup 2015 Winners Bring Out Limited Edition Kung Pao Chicken Pizza

It's been a while since we took a look at the Beijinger Pizza Cup 2015 winners, Gung Ho!

Just recently, they brought out the kung pao chicken pizza (RMB 86) for a limited time only. Tender chicken, spicy chili, and sweet gong bao sauce topped off with spring onions and toasted peanuts. While we like to think that we are the kind of foreigner that will eat more than just gongbao jiding, this pizza does peak our interest. You've got until the end of February to check it out.

In December, they announced an exclusive collaboration and customized pizza from Jamie Peñaloza, the executive chef and creative director of Joyseed, a healthy breakfast delivery startup making big waves in Beijing. Regarding her pizza design, she says:

“Years ago when I moved to the UK, I immediately sought our local comfort foods like the classic fish pie to warm up to the cold, damp weather. The subtle flavors of fresh fish and milky bechamel topped with creamy mashed potatoes is like a big hug for me, and a perfect comfort food for the Beijing winter. So I took all of these elements and turned it into a, well, pretty unconventional, but definitely delicious, new pizza for Gung Ho.”

Jamie’s pizza creation features fresh salmon, sole and prawns baked in a bechamel sauce with green peas and mashed potatoes, topped off with fresh parsley leaves and shredded parmesan with a squeeze of lemon (RMB 99).

Also new on the winter menu is their barbecue beef pizza, featuring southern-style pulled barbecue beef and roasted red peppers, covered in New Zealand manuka honey barbecue sauce, served with a side of Gung Ho's very own coleslaw (RMB 99).
