INTRO 2016: The Best Electronic Music Festival of the Summer Returns to Grand Epoch City on May 28

While we are still waiting to find out who will be playing this year’s Strawberry Festival, besides Prodigy (eww), the people behind INTRO Electronic Music Festival, China’s largest outdoor electronic music event, have a couple announcements of their own that are sure to excite anyone who’s into the tech-heavy sounds that this massive party is known for.

Since it began in 2009, INTRO has always been a highlight of summer's music related events in Beijing as they are notorious for bringing out giant sound systems, insane light displays, and the city’s best DJs for a day-long party outside the city limits. While they have had their fair share of hurdles in recent years due to last-minute venue changes and other complications that come with hosting an independent event of this magnitude in China, it seems the party is safe for now (knock on wood) and will be once again held at Hebei’s Grand Epoch City on May 28, from 2-11pm.

Along with their venue selection, that is quickly becoming the go-to spot for festivals of this size, we are especially excited about their choice of headliners this year. The lineup includes Japan's Ken Ishii (see his Boiler Room Berlin set above), who has been in the game for over 20 years, making incredibly heady techno that helped to bring international attention to the Japanese club scene in the 90s; Tunisian DJs Tic & Tac; and the Swiss art collective Supermafia, who will be manning the lasers, video projections, and strobes throughout the night.

Alongside these big names you can also expect the usual Lantern regulars hitting the decks, including Juliana Lima, Yang Bing, BB Deng, Mickey Zhang, and Weng Weng, along with a dedicated bass stage for The Syndicate crew and the Kollection Stage which will primarily feature house and a small dose of hip-hop.
