Kipp's Picks: Great Wall Party, Organic, Kamixlo, and Beijing Craft Beer Festival

At TBJ we love a good holiday weekend, and even better a holiday that celebrates the heroic deeds/suicide of a poet, dragon boat racing, and zongzi, and it goes without saying you can also expect a big lineup of parties also awaits. Here are our favorite events for your viewing pleasure.

Jun 9: Great Wall Party 2016
Why not spend your holiday partying from dusk till dawn in the desert by the Great Wall of China? Last year the Great Wall Party and NB Noise crews had almost 1,000 revelers dancing the night away. This year they expect the fest to be even bigger and badder as the teams join forces once again rattle the foundations of this ancient fortification. Go here for details on tickets, transportation, and line-up. RMB 300 (with bus). 2pm-5am. The Great Wall

Jun 9: Organic
We didn’t realize that electronic music could also be organic, but ok we’re interested. The DJs on this peculiar night aim to create a special ambiance by combining elements of sound, lighting, decor, and even plant life, to bring back that raw aesthetic and emotion that was naturally embedded in the early days of dance music. While plants are far-out and everything, expect the tunes to be even more so, with DJs Marc Alexr, Signal North East, and Juhstynn on the decks. Free. 10pm. Dada

Jun 9: Wooozy Offline Presents Kamixlo
Vice called this youngster “The musician who'll be soundtracking 2016.” Well, they say a lot of things, but that’s still a pretty heavy compliment for this 22-year-old that has taken London clubs by storm with his rapid-fire raggaeton and a demented mix of bachata, and cumbia given an utterly inimitable modern twist. To warm things up for this wunderkind they’ve got Bloodz Boi, Pussy Stack, and Dokedo. RMB 60. 10pm. Modernsky Lab

Jun 10-11: Beijing Craft Beer Festival 2016
Great Leap Brewing is back at it this weekend with the return of Beijing Craft Beer Festival. For two days they'll be promoting the best craft breweries China (and Taiwan) have to offer. You can expect 14 breweries on the premises to help fulfil all of your yeasty desires during this hot holiday weekend, including Boxing Cat, Guangtu, Bad Monkey, Le Blé D’or, 18 Beer, Harvest, Strong Ale Works, Master Gao, and local members of the Beijing Homebrewing Society. Free. Fri, 5-11pm, Sat, midday-10pm. Galaxy Soho
