Kipp's Picks: Macrowave, Felix Da Housecat, Eclectic Electric, and Watermelon Wheat Beer Launch

The heat is on, and the crazies are out, which you can probably tell by looking at our most viewed blogs this week. This is to be expected as it’s the season when things get a little crazy, and the dancefloor is no exception. Below are some fun opportunities for you bacchanalian fellows to cut a rug wild style and or eat way too much watermelon – whatever pricks up your ears.

Jul 1: Macrowave Vol.1: Audio Visual Party
Aotu Studio is about to bring us a series of parties titled Macrowave, revolving around various genres of top-notch electronic music and otherworldly visuals. Vol.1 on July 1 is supported by Vintage Future DJs on the decks and the artistic visions of Yovanovic N. Edgar on the walls. Of course you can also expect refreshing cocktails and mind-altering shots throughout the night. Free. 8pm-2am. Aotu Studio

Jul 1: Eclectic Electric: Get Eurotrashed
DJ Half/N/Half's Eclectic Electric night is back with a Eurotrash-themed bash at Rec Room this Friday. Come out dressed in your finest sunglasses, half-unbuttoned shirts, and gold chains to party to a mix of Europe's classic hits and a side of some normal big room beats. We bet they’ll unleash a weird remix of Europe’s “Final Countdown” as well. Why wouldn’t they? Free. 10pm. Rec Room

Jul 1: Housing featuring Felix Da Housecat
This Chicago native needs little introduction. Part of the second wave of house music hailing from The Windy City, Felix Da Housecat went on to pioneer his own unique electro-ridden sound and subsequently become an international sensation. Make sure to drop in and honor this living legend rocking the rooftop as part of the Housing series of parties. RMB 120, RMB 80 (advance). 10pm. The Bar at Migas

Jul 2: Watermelon Beer Launch & Eating Competition
Jing-A's great Beijing Bikini Watermelon Wheat is back for summer and to celebrate the return of this very popular seasonal brew, it'll be available with happy hour pricing all night (a 10 RMB discount). They’ll also be holding a watermelon eating challenge between 3-6pm – whoever finishes their slice the fastest wins a free beer, and the overall fastest melon murderer at the end of the day will win a special prize. More watermelon perhaps? Free. 3-6pm. Jing-A Taproom
