A Spicy Legend at Yen Restaurant, W Beijing Chang'an

Starting now, the Chinese restaurant at W Beijing Chang’an, Yen Restaurant, proudly presents the Spicy Legend menu of Hunan dishes, created by executive chef Eric Huang Zhiling. Hunan cuisine is full of flavor and personality, and is sure to add a little warmth to Beijing's coldest season. When you take a bite, the dishes will ignite your taste buds for a truly memorable meal.

Below are some of the dishes on offer:

Boiled razor clam, basil, and bamboo shoots in golden broth


Stir-fried preserved meat and fish, Xiangxi style

Braised wild terrapin with yam root in supreme stock


Wok-fried sliced donkey meat with spring onion, ginger, and red chili


Wok-fried fresh abalone with sliced pork belly, ginger, and red chili


Chef Eric Huang Zhiling, executive chef of Yen at W Beijing Chang'an, is a self-proclaimed "master of the taste buds." Chef Huang has 15 years of experience in hotel catering and has received many honors such as Chinese Cooking Master and Asian Chef of The Year.


Chef Huang tells a story about the first time he tried spicy Hunan food: "I had to drink almost a liter of Coke to cool my mouth but I never forgot that incredible flavor." Since then, Chef Huang has spent many years researching the cuisine of Hunan and always makes it his mission to search out and try new dishes when he visits the province. This was his inspiration for the Spicy Legend menu and he hopes to bring new and exciting flavors to W Beijing Chang'an's guests from all around the world. 

Located on the second floor of W Beijing Chang'an, Yen Restaurant combines the glamor of old Peking and the fantasy of modern design. The combination of Cantonese food and northern dishes, along with Sichuan, Hunan, and Zhejiang cuisine, tempt the guests to tuck in as much as they desire.
