Spring Has Sprung on Tribe's New Menu

I've never felt particularly constrained by the need to eat temperature-appropriate dishes (hot pot in summer? Sure, sweating keeps the body cool!) but with temperatures finally creeping into the double figures I won't deny that my appetite has been turning towards salads in the last couple of weeks. The folks at Tribe are clearly feeling the same way, as they have just launched a spring/summer menu full of fresh veggies and their signature creative twists.

For example, their new "prawn and on" grain bowl (pictured above) features five different vegetables, plus grilled marinated prawns, served over a mix of five different grains. I especially liked the turmeric-marinated lotus root in this one – a very on-trend healthy touch.

Probably my favorite dish on the new menu and one which is likely to be a big hit is the "Mexican Wrestling Wrap," which reminded me of an upgraded version of the fajitas I often cobble together for dinner at home. Tribe's version is way tastier than that, of course, with all sorts of tasty elements, including marinated chicken leg with a hint of spice, bell peppers, tomatoes, avocado, coriander, and kale. I also appreciate the wholegrain flavor of the wrap itself, which includes buckwheat, spelt, and black sesame.

It has been interesting to see the way Tribe's menu has grown over the years, from just salads and grain bowls to increasingly more complicated dishes. Case in point is the "Spring Splash Salmon," a hulking chunk of roasted salmon with pea puree that wouldn't look out of place on the menu of a much more formal restaurant. Another example is the pizzas, which they tell us have become one of their most popular dishes. For spring, they have added the "Magical Mushroom Pizza," a crowd favorite at the recent tasting we went to, which features mixed mushrooms, black truffle paste, buffalo mozzarella, ricotta, and chili. All of Tribe pizzas are, of course, on gluten-free almond flour bases.

All the new dishes (apart from the Spring Splash Salmon) are available at all Tribe locations, including the new branch in WF Central.
