The convenience of Beijing often comes at a cost and as great as it is to get every single thing delivered to you within an hour, the environment is the one that is often suffering the most. The zero waste movement hopes to highlight this and then provide practical ways that we can reduce our consumption and use of plastic and other detrimental materials. To get a primer on what steps you can take to protect the environment, head to this talk by Carrie and Joe, the founders of The Bulk House, the first zero-waste store in mainland China. Tiananmen and the Making of Modern Beijing: A Walk and Discussion
Kick back and take a leisurely Sunday stroll this weekend all the while stuffing you noggin with fun facts about how modern Beijing came to be. The walk will weave through the Beijing Urban Planning Hall before taking to the streets toward Tiananmen coupled with a discussion on the events which have made the square famous around the world, and the ongoing evolution of Beijing from imperial capital to a modern megalopolis.
