What's Up In Beer: Jing-A's LuLu Almond Porter, Slow Boat's NYE Bash, Great Leap's Hearty Holiday Dishes

What's Up in Beer is our weekly rundown of all things ale and suds. Lather yourself in the latest beery news, gossip, and openings all the while forgetting what exactly it was that you were meant to be doing. Don't worry, beer can fix that too.

Jing-A diehards will have plenty of reasons to raise a glass on New Year's Eve. After all, the popular brewery and restaurant will hold a huge year-end bash chock full of hourly discounts on booze and bites all the way until midnight. Highlights include half priced burgers with the order of a beer from 6-7pm, buy two, get one free pints for the "Tis the saison" deal from 8-9pm and more. Here's a rundown:

What's more: Jing-A is also debuting it's new LuLu Almond Porter. Anyone who's been to a Chinese corner store or supermarket will surely get a kick out of the ubiquitous product that served as this wholesome, nutty beer's muse:

Another boozy New Year's Eve occasion comes courtesy of Slow Boat, which will mark the occasion with an RMB 119 discount on four pints of Monkey's Fist IPA. Bottles of Cava, meanwhile, will also be available for RMB 198 if you'd rather have bubbly than suds.

The Great Outdoors, meanwhile, has already been ringing in the holiday season, announcing Christmas and New Year's parties last week. The NYE phase of their festive boozing features a sexy suit and tie contest, along with a competition for the most glamorous dress. Judges will award the winning fashionistas a case of sparkling wine on the house. The fun kicks off at 8pm, when mulled wines will be buy-two-get-one-free and shots will be buy-three-get-one-free.

Then there's Beersmith's ritzy countdown to 2019. Music will be provided by elegant cover band Soul Shake starting at 7.30pm. Dress code: black and gold colors. Admission: RMB 150. From there, good times and sudsy craft beer will flow at the CBD brewery.

And as you contend with a brutal holiday hangover, find some relief with Great Leap's recently unveiled hearty winter menu. It's now available at their #45 location, and includes winter turkey sandwiches for RMB 60 each, eggnog pound cake for RMB 35, and other drool-worthy highlights:

Over at Liangmahe, meanwhile, you can pack on the winter warming pounds with Arrow Factory's traditional English Sunday roast beef lunch. At RMB 128 per person, patrons can enjoy succulent slices of Australian roast beef, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, Brussels sprouts, homemade Yorkshire pudding, horseradish, and gravy. An extra RMB 30 will get you dessert, while RMB 30 more gets you a beer, Prosecco, or house wine.
