Late Night Snacks Now Available at These Three Spots

Getting drunk food cravings when you’ve enjoyed a few drinks and it’s getting towards the end of the night is a feeling most of us will be familiar with. Back in the day, this used to be easily solved by hitting up one of the chuanr or noodle stands that would spring up on almost every street corner all around Beijing. But alas! Those days are long gone.

Luckily, there are a few spots around the capital that have now started offering late-night menus to satisfy all of your drunken food craving needs!

Great Leap

Brewpub Great Leap just recently a new late-night snack menu with a variety of tasty treats that pair perfectly with one of their signature brews. We’re personally most excited about the kebabs of which they have three variations: Pineapple Chuck (Steak) Kebabs (RMB 65), Great Leap Lamb Kebabs (RMB 60), and Great Leap Veggie Delight Kebabs (RMB 45). All the kebabs come served with extra chili powder and BBQ seasoning so you can customize them to your preferred spice level.

For seafood fans, there is the Great Leap Gourmet Mix-Seafood (RMB 98) that sees a platter of oysters, octopus, mussels, shrimp, and clams seasoned with lemon juice, cilantro, and fresh chili peppers. If you’re looking for some smaller nibbles they have classic Chinese bar snacks: Boiled Peanuts, Boiled Edamame, and Smashed Garlic Cucumber, you can order all three – the Beer Mate Trio – for RMB 60 or individual for RMB 20.

Great Leap’s Night Snack Menu is available everyday 8pm-12.30am.

To welcome in summer, Jing-A are doing a Late Night Canteen menu which has a range of delicious snacks to munch on while enjoying a beer or two. The must try has to be their take on Bo Bo Chicken (RMB 80), a classic Sichuan dish that sees chicken, veggies, tofu and other chuanr cooked in a hot pot style broth seasoned with plenty of mala and other spices.

Other dishes include Nachos (RMB 90) loaded with cheese, sour cream, guacamole, tomatoes, fresh chilies and cilantro, their famous Lao Jim’s Fried Chicken (RMB 50) and a variety of small dishes like Mala Edamame (RMB 30) – warning this one is pretty darn spicy so watch out!
