Beijing is a happening city! Don't miss a thing with our weekend roundup of the latest news.

City to see major snowfall, temperature drop this weekend: Beijing is getting one last temperature drop -- and a bit of snowfall to accompany it -- from today to Monday, Feb 14. Temps will drop to -7 degrees Celsius around Monday, and heavy snowfall is expected around midnight Saturday.

As a consequence of the anticipated snow, tickets to the Forbidden City have sold out through Monday (perfect excuse for a Valentine's Day photo shoot). City authorities have advised residents to travel safely and to dress accordingly based on weather forecast.

Beijing to stop tolling expressways: Jingtong and Jingha Expressways will soon drop their tolls this year. The tolls have caused a great many headaches for drivers and anyone who has needed to take a taxi along them. Many drivers traveling between Beijing's "sub-center" (aka Tongzhou) and city center opting to take Guangqu Road instead, which lead to even more headaches thanks to congestion.

Beijing has also annunced Jingha will be widened in the future, also stating that more roads connecting the sub-center to the city center are planned.

Beijing to loosen Covid Restrictions: No new local cases were reported in Beijing for three consecutive days. One high-risk area in Beijing was reduced to medium-risk area. At present, Beijing has one high-risk area and three medium-risk areas.
