Eat For Free! Man vs. Food comes to Langham Place

Butcher’s Steakhouse’s giant burgers have gone – the building is currently a cleaned-out shell (we’ll keep you up to date on what moves into that “difficult” space at the top of Sanlitun Bar Street) – but Fuel at Langham Place is keeping the tradition of gut-busting eating challenges going with a new batch of dining promotions for the summer.

Fuel’s Godzilla burger while hefty, is more palatable than the Butcher’s Steakhouse mega-burger. If you can demolish this massive pile of bread and meat within 30 minutes, you’ll get it for free! Other finish-and-get-it-free challenges include seeing off a full “Brontosaurusbeef rib within 30 minutes, gulping down two hot dogs within five minutes and munching a whole pepperoni pizza within four minutes.

The more competitive of eaters among you can get in training and go for a long campaign of attrition with cumulative rewards. In addition to getting away without paying the check, for each challenge you undertake you’ll rack up points to add to a scorecard. As you accumulate more points, you can qualify for some excellent prizes, including a stay at Langham Place.

The staff at Langham Place tested the limits of their own bellies yesterday, with each succeeding in their allocated task. Staff member Marcus Huber spent just 23 minutes on transiting the burger – bigger than his own head – from table to stomach. The feat left a visible impression upon Huber: when he stood up to celebrate his triumph, a ball-shaped curve was discernible around his stomach! Ouch.

Meanwhile, colleague Jerry Yang spent 16 minutes, 40 seconds on devouring a whole juicy rib with slaw and fries. Congratulations to both of them, and the staff who took part in other smaller-scale challenges. Good luck recovering today …

The Fuel challenges launch on May 1, running until August 31. You’ll need a big appetite, an extremely brawny digestive system and a hard-as-rock will. Oh, and maybe a supply of Pepto-Bismol.

They are desperate for Business in their Restaurant, otherwise none one will promote such disgusting overeating.
Pityful for a 5 star chain to downgrade them selves like that.

Do you have any better idea for their business?

I don't get it. what is the point of these food contests? how can you promote food culture when you put together activities where the aim is to eat as fast and as much as possible? what respect for the people who suffer hunger? didn't you learn that one should not play with food?
promote quality, not quantity. educate and respect people.
this is culture for fat brainless people.

Absolutely you are not a fan of Man vs. Food. (http://www.travelchannel.com/TV_Shows/Man_V_Food) . Similar food challenges are happening globally, and there is always someone who loves the game and someone who loves knowing and watching it. Can you tell me why?
