Intimate Atmosphere: Macy Gray to Play Beijing

Macy Gray is coming to Beijing for an "intimate, one-of-a-kind performance" at China World Summit Wing's cloud-scraping Atmosphere Bar on July 8. Local promoters Street Hustle have teamed up with China World Summit Wing to set up the "boutique" show, which will feature Gray belting out her biggest hits in a half-hour performance before getting behind the decks for a DJ set to kick off a party that the organizers hope will go on until dawn - and if there's anywhere worth sticking around to catch a sunrise, it's Atmosphere, up there on the 80th floor.

Only around 200-250 tickets will be available for the event - that's the "boutique" bit, you see? We reckon tickets will be extremely hard to get hold of, though Street Hustle's Matthew Arnett assures us that the event won't be invite-only. However, no news on ticket prices or how to get your hands on a ticket just yet. We'll have it up as soon as we know.

In the meantime, just in case you don't have memories of being terrorized by your neighbor playing this on repeat for hours in 1999, here's one of Macy's bigger hits.

And her reinterpretation of Radiohead's miserabilist classic, "Creep" ...

She cancelled Beijing and here's a really lazy performance with nasty mic feedback in at M1NT in Shanghai 3 days ago. Someone mentioned that she was half drunk and on stage for less than 10 minutes.

Nice guitar tuning!... well you need something to distract listeners if you sing like Donald Duck.

"For relaxing times, make it Suntory time."

When you start playing Asian hotel bars your career is probably winding up somewhat.
