The awards are bigger than ever this year, with brand new categories for 2012 while many old favorites returning to the ballot. We'll be telling you about what's new, who is in and who is out over the next few weeks, but for now if you want to know more about the ballot then you'll have to vote. Read on to find out how to cast your vote.

Voting is simpler than ever. All you need to do is use the survey embedded on this post below:

Reminder: if you don't have a strong favorite in a category, please leave it blank.

How We Do It

With the broadest coverage and biggest reader participation, our awards are the most trusted in town. the Beijinger’s 2012 Reader Restaurant Awards are determined by a two-step process.

Step one: A nomination panel of over 100 Beijing gourmands, along with a randomly selected list of 100 voters from last year’s balloting, were provided a blank ballot and asked to name their favorite restaurants in each of over 60 categories. We tabulated the results and drew up shortlists of nominated restaurants in the 50 most competitive categories.

Step two: We now turn the ballots over to the public to vote online for three weeks, from Feb 22-Mar 13. Each vote will be examined thoroughly for eligibility. Duplicated ballots will be discarded, as will any attempts at ballot stuffing. The remaining ballots will then be verified, tabulated and each restaurant ranked accordingly. The top vote-getter in each category will be named "Best," while the second and third highest vote-getters (joint third, in the case of ties) will be named "Outstanding." All the results will be revealed at our awards ceremony, which will be held in mid-March.

I invited a friend for dinner here a few days ago. I ordered a big portion of noodles with chiken -looking at the pic on the menu- and I couldn't believe the few amount of pieces of chiken I got in the dish.... it was all noodles! I called the waiter -very servicial- who tried to explain to me that the portion was right... I showed him the pic on the menu... but he had no words to add.
Sanlitun Bar st seems to be made for tourists... the quality is not good and the prices are high in comparison to any other typical chinese restaurant... where we went back with my friend to enjoy real chinese or japanese meals out of the tourist area... Pho Pho... never again.

reto kistler for sure.

At Home Plate for lunch. Just told Seth Grossman he has been nominated as "personality of the year". He says it's "pretty overwhelming" and "it's not me, it's the whole place--Adam and everyone else--that is the personality." What a nice guy! Now... where the &%*$ is my pulled pork sandwich!? (Kidding. This place is absolutely packed.)

Cheers, Boyce

Seth's an American right? Perhaps we could draft him into the presidential elections as an independent candidate ... the china connection will win him lots of credibility! He could select Jeremy Lin as his running mate.
