Help! Beijing Beatle Has Lost His Beagle

We’re a fan of dogs here at the Beijinger, so it’s a sad day when a member of the Beijing community loses a beloved best friend. Greg of the Beijing Beatles is searching for his pet beagle, who answers to the name “Pinot” and was last seen near Lama Temple and Dongzhimen Beixiaojie. More details on the above poster.

To Greg, we say don’t give up! Just a couple weeks ago, one of our colleagues discovered a story about a man who was reunited with his own lost dog … after seven years, no less. Chen Yiyang was riding his bike to his parents’ home for the Lantern Festival when he saw a stray dog similar to his lost Ben Ben on the road. As soon as he called out “Ben Ben” and whistled, the dog was struck dumb. After three seconds of staring, Ben Ben started to run towards him.

Of course, this was a big hit on Weibo, where Chen posted several photos of his newly returned pet. Regarding this one, he admits, “It is impossible to smile when you are crying really hard.”

We hope Greg and Pinot will be reunited too, though we certainly hope it doesn’t take seven years. If you have any news that might prove helpful, please contact Greg directly via the information in the above poster.

In the meantime, we can only imagine what’s on Greg’s playlist:

“Let it Beagle”
“Puppyback Writer”
“I Want to Hold Your Paw”
“Norwegian Woof”
“Eleanor Rigbeagle”
“We Can Walk It Out”
“Pinot Lane”
“Get Bark”
“All You Need is Woof”
“When I’m 9.2 (64 in Dog Years)”
“Can’t Buy Me Ruff”
“Yesterdog”
“Yelp!”
“Yellow Pupmarine”
“Lady Madogga”
“Yappy Road”
“Pedigree Chum Together”
“Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Dog”
“Sgt. Puppy’s Bonely Barks Club Band”
“A Dog in the Life”
“She Loves Chew”
“A Hard Day’s Bite”

Pinot was still "on holiday" when we spoke to Greg yesterday. We hope to hear of a happy reunion very soon.

Did Greg find his beagle yet?

Doubt wisely; in strange way / To stand inquiring right is not to stray; / To sleep, or run wrong, is. (Donne, Satire III)

I genuinely hope Greg finds his Pinot!

And as for you, TBJ, 22 very bad puns. Good work.
