Health in a Box: Obentos' New Summer Menu

We'd happily enjoy the new summer bento boxes and salads from Obentos on taste alone, so the extra nutritional information on the menu adds the bonus of a relatively guilt-free experience. And, considering the well-oiled gears of their delivery service, you can't even use laziness as an excuse not to eat healthy anymore.

The two new seasonal boxes from this Central Park restaurant include a summer sushi bento (RMB 68) and salt grilled mackerel (RMB 56). Obentos is also serving up two new salads: a pumpkin tofu salad with a ginger soy dressing and (RMB 28/48) and a simply salmon sashimi salad with a soy ginger dressing with wasabi (RMB 70).

Obentos is running a lunch deal where if you order between noon and 2pm on a workday, you can get a free miso soup or soft drink with a bento box or large salad.

I had the summer sushi bento a few days ago and enjoyed it. Given that I'm a semi-professional glutton, my appetite wanted to eat more than the allotted portion, but sipping the miso soup helped get my cravings in check.

It's worth taking a look through their menu, as they've done you the favor of including nutritional information to give you the skinny on all the calories, protein, fat and carbohydrates included in their boxes, salads and sides. It's definitely a step up from the last time I remember checking nutritional information at a restaurant … Apparently double cheeseburgers have a lot of sodium?

As Levar says, you don't have to take my word for it. I noticed that Instagram user lumdimsum has been racking up quite the collection of empty bentos. If I had to guess, I'd say she's either building a fort or has joined some kind of intramural Ultimate Bento team.
