Talking Tunes: Psychedelica, Static and the 4th MIDI Awards

Did you manage to get along to see The Fray last night? If so: It was good, wasn't it? If not, you missed out on a pretty good show. We'll have a review of the show coming up at 8pm tonight – be sure to check it out. Don't forget to check out the photo gallery of it here.

Now let's look ahead to the next international visitors. New York psychedelic rockers Psychic Ills are in town this Friday (Nov 16) in support of our very own Chui Wan. Skip along to Yugong Yishan, where further support will be lent by Snapline and White+. A snip at just RMB 80 (RMB 60 for early birds and students).

Speaking of international guests, we received notice that British post-rock outfit 65daysofstatic will grace Beijing early next year. They're scheduled to play dates in Shanghai and Beijing, hitting Yugong Yishan on January 13.

China salutes the Velvet Underground & Nico on their 45th Anniversary in December with a concert in their honour at Yugong Yishan. Carsick Cars, Snapline, Mr. Graceless and Deadly Cradle Death will join forces in tribute.

Elsewhere in December, M-Space in Wukesong will host the 2012 MIDI Awards on the 16th. The 4th annual awards ceremony will honour the best of Chinese rock music in categories such as Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rock Performance By Group With Vocals, Best Male and Female Rock Vocal Performance and Best Live Performance as well an award for Contribution to Chinese Rock. The gala show will also feature performances by a host of bands including Brain Failure and Nova Heart.

To play us out this week, we've a sample of 65daysofstatic, who'll be here before you know it.
