Staying Home on Thanksgiving? Here's Five Places To Find Turkey

If you're lucky enough to have an oven, a friend with an oven, or don't mind parsing your turkey into pieces to fit into the toaster oven, there are a number of places to secure a bird in town. Thursday festivities are fast approaching, so read on for five places to find your Thanksgiving turkey.

Dining out this year? Beijing has its fair share of turkey dinner buffets and set menus. Doesn't really matter, as long as you get your bird, right?

Mike Turkey
An alternative to international supermarkets, Mike Turkey is a locally run place with a strong focus on the bird. It has restaurants and supermarkets that take pride in serving turkey dishes all year round. It is also one of the cheapest places to get turkey – cooked and uncooked turkeys are only RMB 38 and RMB 20 per jin respectively. And yes, they deliver, but book ASAP as Mike Turkey recommends booking three to four days in advance.

Jenny Lou's

Selling at a similar price to other international supermarkets (RMB 58 per jin), Jenny Lou's both sells and delivers uncooked turkey. There is no need to pre-book, but it is always wise to do so anyway to ensure that turkey makes an appearance on your Thanksiving table.

April Gourmet

Boucherie Michel
This artisanal French butchery both sells turkey in-store as well as delivers it to your doorstep. Although both cooked and uncooked turkey is delivered, only uncooked turkey is available in store. It’s highly encouraged that you book four days in advance. They have already stopped taking delivery orders for Thursday because of high demand. The prices err on the expensive end: RMB 98 and RMB 58 per jin for cooked and uncooked turkey respectively.
