Re-Updated Updated Update: Akon Postponed

Updated Update: We might have jumped the gun a tad, but our original suspicions have finally been confirmed. Akon has either cancelled or will be postponing his Beijing performance. After news of his Shanghai gig being cancelled earlier in the week, rumors began to surface that Beijing was next. After many false assurances that the show was still on, we can finally say it's officially time to get your refund.

Update: It seems the information we received about the cancellation of the January 17 Akon performance at MasterCard Center is almost as ropey as suggestions the great man is a hip-hop heavyweight. Anyway, you can rejoice again, Beijing, for now. While it seems shows in the rest of China have been pulled, and there have been suggestions that the Beijing show is still on thin ice, concert promoters have confirmed to us that as things stand, the show is still on and that all the tickets are sold out. Be ready for an update on this, though.

To further add to the confusion his official website has no sign of any tour itinerary, and his Facebook page tells what we're (almost) sure is a bald-faced lie in suggesting that a Beijing show is set for January 10. Curiouser and curiouser.

Let's celebrate the fact that the show hasn't been definitely cancelled yet as he would no doubt want us to, by smacking that:

Bad news for fans of Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Bongo Puru Nacka Lu Lu Lu Badara Akon Thiam, or simply Akon. His January 17 show at the MasterCard Center has been postponed for reasons not yet made public. The Beijing and Shanghai dates will probably be rescheduled for May, but this has yet to be confirmed. It would have been his first time back since 2011, when he was promoting his Freedom album and preparing the foundation for his upcoming release Stadium.

Stay tuned for more info regarding this unfortunate turn of events.

In a similar vein, I saw the other day in a magazine that Avril Lavigne is scheduled to play in Beijing and 7 other cities in China in February and March. However, when I checked the two ticketing websites on the ad (damai.cn and ticketking.com.cn), I could only find tickets on sale for other cities, not Beijing. On her official website there is an Asian concert schedule but no mention of China at all. Can anybody shed any light on what exactly the arrangements are?

Pull your pants UP! U SAGGIN'!
