Gongti Gung Ho! 2.0 Upgrade In the Pipeline

The Gongti outpost of gourmet pizzeria Gung Ho! is set for a renovation before a return a couple of months down the line as "Gung Ho! 2.0." The popular delivery service will continue to operate from the China View locale.

Gung Ho! Pizza "Marketing Ninja" Rich Akers was in touch earlier today to explain how they'll be shutting up shop next week for up to two months before returning with an upgraded dining experience.

"Gung Ho! will be closing its [Gongti] location for renovations next week. It's been nearly four years since we opened. We can't say too much at this point but we have something very special planned for the space. We can say that we're bringing in some talent from New Zealand, and we're looking around Beijing for fun food & beverage-related partnerships. Our goal is to [...] take Gung Ho! Pizza to the next level, to create a new, exciting and above all, fun & friendly destination in Sanlitun."

The award-winning restaurant is one of the most recognizable delivery services in town (not just because of their delivery guys' pink uniforms) and has provided pizza to hungover hordes since opening in 2010. They currently have locations in Lido, Shuangjing and Gongti. In April, Gung Ho! Pizza announced the closure of its Wangjing branch.

PS the closure didn't end up actually taking place until this past Monday .... Details are few and far between but expect a flashier seating area to reappear towards the tail end of the summer.

Given yours truly has learned to exist primarily on Gung Ho salads (they're 10% off on Mondays) delivered to my office door for lunch, the fact they are not stopping delivery service comes as welcome news (full disclosure: I helped them design the Paleo Salad, easily one of the best on the menu if I do say so myself ... )
