You'll Need That Plastic Lei This Weekend: Luaus, Anniversaries, and Qixi

Below our top picks for a night out this weekend. Don't miss out on knowing about the best events in Beijing – see our Editor's Picks.

Don't Miss
We told you about the new hula studio in The Place, and now you have no excuse not to learn some moves. Saturday, 4corners is hosting a Surf 'n' Turf Hutong Luau with gluten free Hawaiian flatbread pizzas, island cocktails, a roast pig and entertainment by the Confectionaires, DJs and fire dancers. Before that, the Confectionaires will be using the uke at Modernista (on Friday), where you'll be able to snag a pina colada at a discount.

The Box, whose owner just announced she's opening a pizza place on Fangjia Hutong, is celebrating four years this Sunday from 3pm til late with burger and drink deals and a beer guzzling competition.

Speaking of anniversaries, Bye Bye Disco is celebrating six years Saturday at Dada with a Computer Love night of nu disco, house, and light electro. Meanwhile, minimal and techno label, PENG, is going eight years strong and to commemorate that lucky number, they're bringing Pancake Lee, Huang Wei Wei and Nassdak to the Migas rooftop.

Parlor is revealing a renovated second floor to all its guests Saturday night with entertainment from The Groove Collective. Last time we went up there, we felt like we were on a 1920s film set (a good thing), so we expect great stuff from the space.

Don't forget, Saturday is Qixi Festival, so if you're still at a loss for plans, check our list of events here. One we just got wind of is Suzie Wong's Sexy Lips party, where professional coaches will be on hand to show you and your partner how to dance. A kissing contest, prizes, and wine tasting is on the agenda, but you'll need to RSVP at 18510351131 to make sure you secure a spot.

Have you checked out these new bars in our August issue of the magazine yet?
