Talking Travel: New Hotels in Sanya and Beijing, New Beijing to Lhasa Air Route

There's quite a bit of travel news this week, so we'll get right to it.

As some of you may have heard, Beijing government offices, schools, and state-owned enterprises will have November 7-12 off due to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. Many private companies are following their lead. This means that train tickets to get out of town are already selling out, with new trains being added. If you just got five days off you didn't expect, and you want to travel, buy your tickets today

The Rosewood Hotel Beijing finally opened last week. I wasn't invited to the opening so I don't really know anything about it.

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts just opened the Shangri-La Sanya Resort & Spa in Hainan's Haitang Bay. It features 340 guestrooms and eight villas. Guest rooms have private balconies with views of the mountains or the sandy beach. Feeling chilly in Beijing yet? Click here for more information.

Bulgari, yes, luxury goods maker Bulgari, will be opening a hotel in Beijing in early 2017. If the location in the description and the artist's rendition (pictured) is correct, then it appears it will be on or near the site of the Kunlun Hotel. The Bulgari Hotel Beijing will have 120 rooms and suites. That should be interesting.

A new airline, creatively named Tibet Airlines, is opening a new route between Beijing and Lhasa. If that's where you're headed, maybe that's the way to go.

More Thursday.
