First Glance: The Meatball Company, Gulou

The ballers at The Meatball Company are back, this time with their first offline space, in a quiet hutong right next to 4corners, just off Gulou Xidajie.

With their new store comes an extension of their drinks menu, including a deliciously fruity sangria, which we are told will change its flavors along with the seasons. Right now they are serving a white wine pineapple sangria at RMB 35 a glass and RMB 120 for a 1L pitcher. They also serve beer (RMB 30), coke and sprite (RMB 15), and coffee (RMB 25).

We know the balls are good from previous office lunchtime shenanigans – this time we tried the chicken meatballs and went all out with the mystery sauce (we won’t ruin it, but it is damn tasty this month!) and a side of roast vegetables (RMB 60).

All in all, the perfect place to hang out, watch the passing locals get confused by the foreign-ness of the establishment, and enjoy some round meaty treats doused in sauce.
