Time to Hit the Road: A Bit of Travel News and Suggestions before the Holiday

The October 1 holiday is upon us, so for those of you heading out of town, just bear this in mind: Beijing Capital International Airport is expecting 1.7 million passengers on Thursdays. So, leave early, take public transportation if possible, and prepare yourself for delays and full flights. Otherwise, have a safe trip.

Here's some advice from Dr. Eddie Cheung of Sanfine International Hospital on how to keep your stomach working properly while on holiday.

For those of you who said, "I have a feeling something is coming up and I should stay home for October 1," this may be it. It's only in Chinese and you'll have to wade through some conditions, but China Southern Airlines is offering airfares to New Zealand for only RMB 3,000. Travel dates are December 16, 2015 through September 25, 2016. Tickets must be purchased by October 30. Find a Chinese friend who wants to go with you and start going through the booking process here.

If you're headed to Taiwan or southern China in the next 24-48 hours, uh, you may get some rain. The storm already killed two people and injured 300, according to CNN. Maybe check with your airline or better yet, your travel insurance company.

That's it for now. Have a great holiday!
