EAT: Hutong Sandwich Trends, Rooftop Seafood at Arrow Factory Brewing, Tapas and Spanish Corner at Modernista

This week's EAT blog is mostly hutong-related, as opposed to the usual Sanlitun ramblings.

Modernista, perhaps the most active bar in the city, has launched a new tapas event that will also benefit your language skills, combining half-price tapas every Monday with Spanish language corner. Count us in! On Tuesdays, they have their regular drink and draw sessions too, which are still going strong.

Continuing the sandwich trend in the Yonghegong area (after our recent review of Queenie's Sandwiches & Bar), Tuk Tuk is launching on 27-29 Fangjia Hutong, just off Andingmen Neidajie deep down in hipsterville, and comes courtesy of the owners of Fang. The menu includes morsels such as French baguettes, wraps, toasted ciabattas, soups, and sides. Prices for these sandwiches range from RMB 35-50. We will be heading over investigate soon to get you all the juicy details.

Rumor also has it that the new Arrow Factory Brewing location by Liangma River, whose rooftop, by the way, is now also open and in full swing, will soon be adding some seafood to their menu, including crab, mussels, and prawns.

The Arrowheads' rooftop will also be getting pimped with taps soon, making it the perfect location for sunbathing and day drinking. As a helping hand to the day drinking, they will also start serving steins (RMB 85-95) at their new location only, nullifying the need to walk back and forth between the bar and in doing so saving precious drinking time.
