Park Square’s New Menu, New Beers, New Outdoor Seating Area and New Branch in Shunyi

Park Square has revamped their menu for the summer-like spring, adding new dishes, main courses, and brunch, and reintroduced the set lunch (starting from April 11). They also renovated the garden terrace recently, which is large enough to seat 60 people, with a pleasant, well, park-like atmosphere that many will likely find attractive.

Contributed by their French chef Clement Rol, the new set lunch is RMB 118 for two courses; or RMB 138 for three courses, both plus a soft drink or Americano. We started off with a soup, then a classic cobb salad, followed by crispy sushi, which used sea bass in a ceviche marinade on a smokey plate, all of which was fresh and delightful. The main courses include lamb (grilled lamb cutlets), fish (sautéed squid), chicken (breast of chicken), Asian (duck breast wrapped with salad), or vegetarian (zucchini roulade).

We tried the sautéed squid with garlic and parsley, accompanied by roasted tomatoes and baby purple potatoes. The red peppers and tomatoes were juicy; the purple potatoes are first steamed, then spooned out of the skin and blended with butter and bacon, then replaced and baked. Layers of flavor would bump into each other on the way to your mouth, yummy. At the end, a mango and chocolate eclair was an appropriate dessert.

When redesigning the menu, Park Square kept the popular rib eye (280g Australian Waygu for RMB 258), T-bone (400g Australian beef for RMB 448), filet steak (180g Australian Angus steak for RMB 198), and lamb cutlets (RMB 168). There are also burgers (RMB 108, served with fries), a club sandwich (RMB 78, served with fries), tournedos Rossini (RMB 218), and beef and chicken skewers (RMB 108). We recommend the chicken pie (RMB 98), served in a puff pastry, with lemon and sesame, sautéed mushrooms, and champignon sauce, which was spicy and full of flavor, with the bay leaves and mixed spices making a perfect sauce for the pie.

There will be more dishes especially made for summer, such as crab salad and avocado, warm salmon salad, smoked scallops tartare, a Mediterranean platter, lobster, chicken Cajun, and snapper.

They also offer wine, spirits, and cocktails. There's a good selection for beer lovers. Apart from the beers from Slow Boat, Baird beer from Japan, Belhaven from Scotland, Evil Twin from US, Foxes Rock from Ireland, and on April 7 they began serving beers from Brewdog, such as Punk IPA cans (post-modern classic), Five AM Red Ale (bittersweet chaos), Dead Pony Club (session pale ale), Vagabond Pale Ale (gluten-free beer) and This.Is.Lager. (21st century pilsner).
