Pizza Mania!: Q Mex Surprises with Generously Topped, Crispy Thin-Crust Pizzas

Ahead of this year's Pizza Cup – which kicks off this Sunday – we are serving up bite-sized details about this year's participants in a series we call Pizza Mania. We continue today with Courtyard 4 favorite Q Mex.

Before we start off, let's get one thing straight: we are not saying that we're surprised that Q Mex is serving delicious food (they do regularly bring home prizes during our Restaurant Awards, including Outstanding Mexican this year), what we are saying is that we are surprised that a Mexican restaurant has got its pizza down so well.

I first had Q Mex's pizza over a year ago, when their new chipotle chicken pizza was added to the menu, which has since become one of their signature dishes. To date, this is still my favorite (RMB 70 for thin crust and RMB 75 for regular) – there's just something about the crispy, thin crust, the generous amounts of cheese piled on top, and the toppings like you would find on nachos: grilled chicken, black beans, cilantro, and two types of cheese. On top of that, if you go for the thin-crust option, you won't be weighed down by excessive dough for the rest of the day.

Specially for the Pizza Cup, Q Mex has thrown a new pizza into the ring, available now: the Mexican meat lover supreme (RMB 75, only available with regular crust). This pizza is topped with four types of Mexican-style beef: special chorizo, Mexican shredded beef jerky, thinly sliced air-dried beef, and flash-grilled steak, as well as mozzarella cheese, a sour cream garlic sauce, and cilantro.

Q Mex's pizzas are especially worth checking out on Tuesdays, when they're half-price, making them an absolute bargain. And on top of the addition of their new Mexican meat lover supreme, Q Mex will also be offering all of their pizzas for RMB 55 from Sunday (Sep 18) until November 7, giving you the opportunity to try out everything they've got on the cheap. Tickets are now on sale for our Oct 15-16 Pizza Fest at the Zaha Hadid-designed Wangjing Soho ... Tickets are limited so buy ahead to make sure you don't miss out! Click here to purchase!
