Eating The Georg's New 'Fat Freddy's Brunch' is One Way You Should Spend Your Weekend

The Georg, ever the ones conjure up a tasty meal, have launched their next brunch concept, and this time the name alone already has us salivating: 'Fat Freddy's Brunch.'

This new brunchy beast costs RMB 350 per person, a pretty great deal for this much food, with the option to add RMB 148 per glass of Champagne, and RMB 55 per person for free-flow Voss water. Like their previous Beats, Rymes, and Brunch, they've kept the charcuterie (and thank god for that, because we loved the presentation of mix of coppa (a traditional Italian and Corsican pork cold-cut), olives, egg salad, and duck liver pate (pictured above, a portion for two)), and the bread basket.

New dishes on the menu include the panko fried egg: a boiled egg served on a bed of sweet caramelized onion and topped off with dehydrated tomatoes. The dish also comes with a comte sauce, made using comte cheese, a somewhat strong French cheese made from unpasteurized cow's milk in eastern France. Save some of your bread to mop up the remainders of the sauce, and you're good to go.

A second new main course is their duck confit with sauteed mushrooms, potato foam, topped off with watercress. We enjoyed the combination, although if we were to nitpick we would say that the duck confit was a little on the salty side. Because of that, the potato foam came into its own, lessening the saltiness of the confit.

Moving on to the sweet dishes, this brunch's desserts are superior to those of its predecessor's. The first was a risalamande, a creamy Danish rice pudding served with caramel sauce, and the second an orange dessert, a tower made from a slice of orange sandwiched between two crunchy pieces of sugar-coated biscuit, topped off with a dollop of vanilla ice cream, and surrounded with orange-flavored ice. I mean, just look at this pillar of love:

While the menu might not look like it, this menu is bound to fill you up to the point where you'll need to walk it off. Good thing Houhai is just around the corner.

Free flow water for 55 rmb????? Oh it's "Voss" water, oh ok, I don't feel like I'm being completely fleeced now. *cough cough*

And a glass of champagne for almost half the price of the whole brunch food menu price. Stop tempting me like this

Haha you are funny. Might not be your cup of tea but it's pretty busy in there every weekend Smile
