EAT: The Chef and The Brewer at Jing Yaa Tang, Two-For-One Steak, CFFC Table Hosting Open

EAT: Your bite-sized guide to the best eats to be had in Beijing this week.

Buy-one-get-one-free Aussie steaks at The Cut

If you've got a craving for steak on a burger budget, then you can satisfy it without hurting your wallet at The Cut every Tuesday, when grain-fed Australian black Angus steaks are buy-one-get-one-free. If you prefer surf over turf, The Cut's Wednesday night oyster deal is hard to beat, with a dozen imported oysters going for just RMB 98.

Buy-one-get-one-free Aussie steaks at Cocottine

Alternatively, if you're in the Parkview Green area, you can take advantage of Cocottine's deal offering 50 percent off Aussie rib-eye steaks every Monday and Tuesday. Cocottine is the latest addition to Groupe FLO's portfolio of restaurants, a rustic, family-style restaurant which is named after a small French saucepan. As well as the steak, try dishes such as crayfish cooked in tomato bisque and Milanese beef osso buco with mashed potatoes, both served in the restaurant's eponymous enamel-coated cast-iron cocottes.

Oct 11: The Chef and The Brewer pop up at Jing Yaa Tang

Great Leap Brewing and Jing Yaa Tang are teaming up for a six-course beer pairing dinner on Friday, Oct 11, the latest in GLB's The Chef and The Brewer series. The menu (priced at RMB 450 per person) features combinations such as GLB's flagship Honey Ma Gold paired with fried chicken skewers and spring rolls that are made with honey and mixed mushrooms, echoing the local honey that goes into the beer. You'll also get to sample Jing Yaa Tang's signature Peking duck, which is paired with The Rebellious General Imperial IPA, the latest addition to GLB's General IPA series. The event doesn't happen until after the October Holiday but these dinners are always popular so it's best to reserve early. Table hosting now open for CFFC 2019

Registration is now open for table hosting at Chi Fan for Charity 2019. The 11th annual get-together of Beijing's charity-minded foodies at nearly 60 restaurants around town on Saturday, Nov 9 is bound to be CFFC's biggest and best ever. To throw your hat into the ring as a host, scan the QR code below (or visit this link) and tell CFFC where you want to host. Acting fast has its advantages – the earlier you register, the greater the chance you will have of being assigned your top preference. The link has only been open for just over a day but we bet popular picks like TRB and Hatsune will already have been snapped up. Find more details about the registration process on CFFC's WeChat.
