EAT: Your bite-sized guide to the best eats to be had in Beijing this week.

Jun 20: Meet the winemaker from Domaine Uby at TiensTiens

Wine & The City is back, which this time heads to French café and bakery TiensTiens. On Jun 20 at 7pm, the organizers invite you to taste Domaine Uby wines from Côtes de Gascogne in southwest France, now finally available in China. Sip on a range of Domaine Uby wines, including two of their best-selling Armagnacs accompanied by a selection of cold cuts, appetizers, and cheese. Attendees will also have the opportunity to chat with the owner of the vineyard, Francois Morel. Tickets, priced at RMB 150 per person, can be bought via this link.

Jun 22: The Xiao Liu Burger Challenge at GLB Lido

Fancy yourself a burger fan with a big appetite? On Jun 22, GLB Lido challenges burger lovers to eat four cheeseburgers over the course of just 30 minutes. Those who complete the mammoth feat (at a cost of RMB 130) will be awarded a RMB 200 voucher valid at all GLB locations or a 24-can case of Little General IPA (worth RMB 430). There will be two rounds of the competition, one at 1pm and one at 5pm. If you want to throw your hat into the ring, email joel@greatleapbrewing.com. Of course, if you're not full after that, you can always head over to the 2019 Beijing Burger Festival throughout the weekend to eat your fill of burgers from dozens of the city's best vendors.

Last chance to sample Blue Frog's coral pink burgers

Speaking of burgers, hands up who likes their burger pink! Yes? Well, you're in for a treat because Blue Frog has put a spin on the usual doneness indicator with a series of burgers that feature eye-catching pink buns (apparently colored with red dragon fruit juice). Now is your last chance to sample the coral pink cheeseaholic beef burger or the coral pink tuna and shrimp seafood burger (which we feel matches better with the color scheme) before they are replaced with new seasonal dishes.

Jun 22: Sample seasonal wild vegetables at the foot of the Great Wall at The Brickyard

For their latest Partner's Table Dinner, The Brickyard at Mutianyu is serving a special menu featuring wild vegetables sourced from around their 'hood at the foot of the Great Wall. Three chefs will combine their skills for the occasion: Mars Liu, a well-known chef who won the Asian Chef Challenge, Randhir Singh, The Brickyard's executive chef from Canada, and Song Cuihong, The Brickyard's head chef and a local villager. The dinner is priced at RMB 588 per person and there are limited seats available. If you fancy staying over, they are also offering special packages priced at RMB 1,588 for single retreat and RMB 2,180 for a double retreat. Email info@brickyardatmutianyu.com for more details.

If you're only got space for one foodie event this week,
make it the 9th Beijing Burger Festival this Saturday and Sunday!
