Lakeside Lounging: Yunnan’s Do-nothing Vacation Destination

There isn’t a lot to do in Shuanglang (双廊), thank god. Unless your lodge’s proprietor is calling you in for family dinner, having a reason to get up from your lakefront lounge chair is not a good thing. The warm sun, cool breeze, and gentle murmur of waves are all you need to have an absolutely fantastic time here. Just a few hours’ drive from Dali, Yunnan, this picturesque Bai fishing village on Lake Erhai’s eastern shore just might offer the most beautiful sunset in China.

Getting There
You can fly direct to Dali (round-trip flights on China Eastern are around RMB 5,000) but there are more frequent flights into Kunming (from RMB 2,000), and an overnight train can take you from the provincial capital to Dali. From Dali, make your way to Shuanglang by taxi, bus or boat. Check out Skysealodge.org for gorgeous lakeside lodgings.
