Booka Shade: German House Stops By Lantern

They’ve gone from being pop guns for hire to the top dogs of the Frankfurt electronic scene and trusted mix merchants for international chart-toppers. Now Booka Shade’s bumpy journey has brought them to China. The German duo of Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier started out 15 years ago as a synth-pop act and enjoyed modest success. Their breakthrough came when they gave their sound a harder club vibe. They’ve now released four albums of original cuts. Though they’ve struggled to recapture the accolades that greeted the release of their ubiquitous 2006 record Movement, theirs is a back catalogue to rival any in electronica.
