Voting is well underway in the Beijinger's tenth annual Reader Restaurant Awards and it's time to focus on your choice for restaurant of the year. Here we've highlighted the two non-Chinese categories for Restaurant of the Year – which this year is divided into both fine and casual dining options. You don't need something to say for every category but these are two where you are more than likely to have an opinion to share. Read on to see the possibilities on the ballot and remember that if your choice is not there then you can use the write-in option for your favorite of the last twelve months.

Time is ticking until the results of the Beijinger's tenth annual Reader Restaurant Awards are announced this Thursday. Our awards ceremony takes place on March 14, from 2.30pm at the Kerry Hotel, where hundreds of industry figures will be gathered to find out who has won the city's most prestigious reader-decided accolades. It's a comparison that makes sense in many ways – the neighborhood vibe, hip bars amidst small local shops, gentrification – and I've heard it bandied about in town often. But the New York Times is "discovering" it, finally, and had their wits about them to scoop up a profile on Gulou for their Travel section's "Heads Up" column.

Though awards season in the rest of the world is winding down, here in Beijing, it's just beginning.
Having cast my vote for the past several years, this is the first year I've had the pleasure of helping to organize the Beijinger's Reader Restaurant Awards. So, as your new Dining Editor, I'm excited to see where you, dear Beijingers, choose for your "Best of's" in our tenth annual Reader Restaurant Awards. While we don't expect you to vote in every category, I've found there's always reason to celebrate in this city, and I expect you have strong ideas to share on where best to revel in Beijing.
