The Beijinger 2013 Burger Cup Finalist: Plan B

As we head into the home stretch, with the Beijinger 2013 Burger Cup culminating this Saturday (Aug 17) in the Beijinger 2013 Burger Festival at Beijing City International School (BCIS), we are reviewing all of our finalists before they cook off, face-to-face, for the title.

Plan B
Local Shuangjing hangout and homey sports bar from the former proprietor of Grinders, Trevor Metz, has expanded to burgers. Of course, the wide selection of bottled beers and satellite sports is still available. Enjoy the AC inside with the TV or bask in the sun outside in its sizable outdoor seating area. Plan B is a late add to the Burger Cup final, earning a spot at the big cook-off when Let's Burger and Blue Frog declined to participate.

The Burger
The Plan B Burger was made up of a big thick beef patty, topped with cheese, tomato, onion, jalapenos and pickles. The jalapenos and pickles are a real plus. The highlight was the caramelized onions. The medium-sized burger comes with chips.

Price: RMB 40.

Reader comment: "This took way too long for me to get there to try this Burger: perfect seasoning, fresh bread and vegetables and a real charcoal grill operated like a pro! And only 40RMB with house cut and fried chips."

Why they could win it all: Plan B is a definite dark horse, but they're keen to avenge themselves after losing their Burger Battle. Turning out their local Shuangjing fan base will be critical to their success on Saturday.

Update: Blue Frog has withdrawn from the 2013 Burger Cup. Although they will not participate, fans of their burger may still vote for them at the event. They will be replaced by Plan B.
