Community Matters: Dress Like Your Favorite Priest

The Irish Network China (INC) is inviting British and Irish TV buffs to dress like priests, nuns or housekeepers to pay dues to the number one comedy show on Britain’s Channel 4: Father Ted.

On September 18, INC is screening four back-to-back episodes of the widely popular program which was voted best comedy by viewers in a 2012 poll and has won numerous awards.

The show follows the adventures of the priest Father Ted and his misadventures while trying to outdo his nemesis, Father Dick Ryrne. The setting is a fictional island off the coast of Ireland, there is a housekeeper obsessed with tea, and matters of the church are satirized – all the necessary ingredients for a witty swirl of Irish humor.

The viewing will be held at Nearby the Tree at 7pm. Price is RMB 100 for those who RSVP and includes pizza, salad and a drink. Email beijingirishconnections@gmail.com before Wednesday to reserve your spot.
