Talking Entertainment: "This is Sanlitun" Gets First Beijing Screening

A new film about the lives of Beijing expats will get its first screening in the capital on Saturday. This is Sanlitun is a comedy inspired by director Róbert Ingi Douglas's experiences living in Beijing and the people he's met during his time here.

The film makes good use of stereotypes expats are familiar with, such as "the China expert," and features local personalities such as Carlos Ottery and Ai Wan. The plot follows a man chasing his fortune, and ex-wife, in China's capital.

The Wall Street Journal also summarized the film and interviewed the director before it was screened at the Toronto Film Festival earlier this fall. The trailer is available for viewing above.

This inaugural screening takes place Saturday evening at Culture Yard and is hosted by The World of Chinese. The cast and director will be there as well for discussion and drinks with the audience. RSVP required: events@theworldofchinese.com

Sadly, there is still no news on when and if there will be a Chinese Mainland release for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. The 3D holiday feature was released around the world today.
